Village Fête and Picnic

Aldborough Village Fête and Picnic took place

on Aldborough Green

was held on Sunday July 13th 2003

12 noon to 5pm

Robert's cart rides were popular all afternoon.

The Punch & Judy is dwarfed by the visiting Fire Engine!

Billy's traction engine was a stunning sight.

Stall holders and visitors took cover from the blazing sun.

12 noon

Grand Opening by Brian Metcalf,
Chairman of Aldborough & Thurgarton Parish Council

12.05pm

Maypole & Country Dancing
by Mr Thacker & pupils of Aldborough Primary School.

Stalls open. Picnicking commences.

Punch and Judy to follow dancing.

12.30pm

Children's Fancy Dress Parade followed by
The Fanciest Hat.

Traditional Irish and American music.

1.30pm Pet Show proceeds to the Friends of Aldborough School.
2.00pm Cooking Demonstration and Wine Tasting
by Barry Finney.
2.30pm Prize Bingo proceeds to the Community Centre.
Punch and Judy.
3.00pm

Children's Races followed by
Welly Throwing.

Traditional Irish and American music.

4.00pm Punch and Judy.
4.30pm Presentation of all Prizes.
4.45pm Grand Prize Draw
proceeds to Aldborough Cricket Club.
5.00pm Close.

Children's Fancy dress 12.30pm
There are four age categories

1. under 3 years
Princes and Faeries

2. 3-5 years
Princesses and Soldiers

3. 6-8 years
Favourite Book Characters

4. 9-11 years
Favourite Celebrities

In addition there will be a prize for the Fanciest Hat decorated to represent one of the four 'Seasons'
This category is open to everyone. Prizes will be awarded at 4.30pm

 

Children's Races 3.00pm

1. 3-5 years Running Race

2. 6-8 years Boys' Egg & Spoon Race

3. 6-8 years Girls' Egg & Spoon Race

4. 9-11 years Boys' Sack Race

5. 9-11 years Girls' Sack Race

6. 9-11 years Slow Bicycle Race
Bring your own bike please. Boys/Girls mixed.

7. 7-16 years Team Space Hopper Relay
Two mixed teams selected on the day.

In addition there will be a prize for
the furthest distance achieved in
WELLY THROWING
which will follow on from the children's races
